October Happenings at the Wolkoff Garden |
Hello Members! Well, with Autumn here you can see how the Dahlias respond to the cooler temperatures with their brilliant colors. I know everyone is enjoying their beauty while they still can during these last few weeks of October. Before you know it the frost will come and The Big Dig will be underway. Our Newer LIDS Members will see how to dig, clean, and put away the Dahlia tubers under the guidance of our expert Garden Director, Joe Lysik. This undertaking takes place in November sometimes for several weeks. Volunteers are very busy at this time helping out as we wind down the Dahlia season.
Save The Date
Saturday, October 26th, 2024 Bill Wolkoff will be 102! Everyone is invited to come down and celebrate Bill's 102nd Birthday! Bill is an extraordinary man. Without his foresight and love of Dahlias, there would be no Wolkoff garden at the Arboretum and we would have no club! I know I speak for everyone as it is a privilege and honor to know and work alongside this man. We LOVE you, Bill!
Good & Welfare You can't keep a good man down as they say: Tom Gangone has been seen walking around the Wolkoff garden. Welcome back! Reminder Dues are Due Please see Leslie (membership) LIDS Holiday Party in December (details in the next post.) Kristine Nicolosi, Corresponding Secretary |
